Connect & Learn / Moodle
Connect & Learn is the platform-level implementation of the shared system. Full strategic and experience detail lives in the Connect & Learn 2027 Experience Blueprint (Glenn Hammond, v1.0, July 2026) — this page summarises its relationship to the design system rather than duplicating it.
Relationship to the shared system
Connect & Learn 2027 does not propose a new design language. The colour roles, typography, spacing scale, component patterns, photography direction and accessibility position all originate in this design system. The proposal is that the existing language is promoted from a course-level asset to a platform-level one.
Three tiers of Moodle control
| Tier | Control | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Tier 1 — Full control | Custom pages with complete markup control. | Connect & Learn Home, My Learning, category pages, search results. |
| Tier 2 — Strong influence | Course format and summary templating. | Course landing pages, section headers, activity cards. |
| Tier 3 — Themed only | Moodle's own interface — type, colour, spacing and buttons inherit the system; structure does not change. | Quiz, forums, assignment submission, grades, profile. |
Shared components
Eight Rise components are adopted into the Connect & Learn component library unchanged: button, message panel (callout), tabs, section opener, split card, resource panel, accordion, progress indicator. The Learning card, Learning Status Bar, filter bar, empty state and course launch panel are new, platform-level components documented in the blueprint rather than this Rise-focused catalogue.
Implementation status
Strategic direction, not yet built. Status: for discussion and approval (blueprint v1.0, July 2026). Five decisions are pending stakeholder sign-off, including a technical discovery spike on whether personal state data (mandatory status, due dates) is available to display — see the blueprint's Section 19 decision register.
Current and future scope
January 2027 launch scope: Connect & Learn Home, My Learning, ~10 priority course landing pages, 5–6 category pages, webinar/resource templates, and platform-wide navigation and styling. Learning pathways, full catalogue metadata and the brand alignment pass are deliberately later.
